VACANCY POSITION FOR FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Suva is seeking to appoint a dynamic and energetic person who is goal driven and achievement oriented to take on the role of PROPERTY CLERK within the PROPERTY DEPARTMENT in the CURIA office. The successful applicant should be a committed Catholic with an enthusiasm for Property Development.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Property Clerk shall assist the Property Officer to achieve the set targets of the Archdiocese of Suva, its social and business objectives whilst maintaining services to all Parish Priests and other customers. The role is on providing support and general administration on all Church properties.
Job description:
  • Maintain a Property Assets Register and responsible for the safekeeping of all
  • Titles owned or leased by the Archdiocese.
  • Ensure that relevant leases and rents are paid in a timely manner according to agreements/contracts
  • Regularly review of leases by providing a report on the current status of all leases and rents to ensure compliance with agreements/contracts, crown land and native leases etc.
  • To assist with management of all properties and write accurate and reliable reports.
  • To assist with administration including banking or other errands.
  • Any other work as may be required from time to time in relation to Properties and projects and is able to work alone at times in carrying out field inspections and monitoring of Archdiocesan properties.
Essential Requirements
The person must be:
Be honest, reliable and disciplined.
Willingness to learn and be part of a team.
Familiar with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel & Power point etc)
Adequate knowledge of property dealings, conveyancing and clerical works.
Be able to work and liaise with relevant Government agencies and Statutory bodies in matters regarding any property issues concerning the Church.
Know how to manage cartels and vehicles.
Possess a valid Driving License and relevant up to date ID.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Finance Controller is a Senior Position and is responsible for all financial matters pertaining to the Archdiocese. The position reports directly to the Archbishop of Suva and the Finance Council.

Job description:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Finance office.
  • Oversee and including the preparation of monthly management accounts, reconciliations and analysis
  • Prepare draft financial statements for the annual statutory audit.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Provide quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of the Archdiocesan office.
  • Work with departmental heads in the preparation of operational, project and capital budgets.
  • Review monthly financial performance of the RCA office against budget and report variances to the
  • Archdiocesan Finance Council on a timely basis.
  • Effectively work with the property officer in reviewing archdiocesan assets and valuations.
  • Can communicate proficiently with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to function cooperatively in a team and work in a spiritually regulated environment with integrity.
  • Effectively and regularly liaise with parishes on the provision of regular reports to the RCA office and commitment to address requests in a timely manner.

Essential Requirements

The person must be:

  • A degree in accounting or a business degree and have at least 6 years in an accountant position or have worked in a similar position.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, guidelines and accounting standards.  In-depth knowledge of IFRS and being a member of the Fiji Institute of Accounts would be an advantage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting software especially hands-on experience with MYOB.

The Archdiocese of Suva will offer an attractive renumeration commensurate with experience and qualification.
