Commemoration of the Feast of Saint Micheal the Archangel- Patron Saint of the Disciplinary Forces.

The Disciplinary Forces gathered today (29/09/2023) at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Suva to commemorate the Annual Feast of Saint Micheal. Saint Micheal or Archangel Micheal is considered the patron Saint of the Disciplinary Forces. 

Most Reverend Archbishop Peter Loy Chong presided over the feast day Mass. In his homily he challenged the men and women of the forces, that apart from upholding the law, to also be agents of truth, unity and reconciliation. 

 

During the mass, representatives from the disciplinary forces took part in the celebration, as they read the mass readings, the singing of the gospel acclamation, the procession of the offertory and reading of the prayers of the the faithful. 

Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration Honourable Pio Tikoduadua, a former military officer also attended the Mass. Also in attendance were students from Marist Brothers High School and Bemana High School with the Choir from the Sacred Heart Parish leading the service. 

Reverend Fr. Ioane Sigarara a former military personnel was one of the co-celebrant of the Mass with Archbishop Peter Loy Chong. Fr. Sigarara is the Vicar for Caritas Fiji; Caritas Fiji is a Catholic charity organisation committed to developing a compassionate and ecologically just society centred on Christ.

The Feast Day celebrations ended with a social night for the disciplinary forces and members of the Sacred Heart Parish at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Crypt.
