The Women’s Ministry of Caritas Fiji will be celebrating International Women’s Day on Monday the 8th of March 2021, at the Archdiocese of Suva Office at 35 Pratt Street Suva.
With the theme “WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP ACHIEVING AN EQUAL FUTURE IN A COVID-19 WORLD”. Ministry coordinator Sister Mariana Tevurega says the celebration will be a time to empower women to become resilient against the pandemic.
Guest speaker Dr. Luisa Cikamata will be sharing her knowledge during the celebration to inform the participants on the latest trends and developments of Covid-19 in Fiji and around the world, as well as the latest best practices used around the world to fight the pandemic.
There will be three other speakers who will be sharing their own unique stories in trying to survive the economic hardship of the Covid-19 era.
The first speaker is a hotel worker who has been unemployed ever since Covid-19 reached the country. The second speaker is a youth who will be sharing her experiences as a youth in the Covid-19 era. The final speaker will be relating her experience as a villager and how the pandemic has also changed their life in the village.
Ministry executive director Agatha Ferei says the celebration will also be a time to celebrate the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world who have given up so much to help shape a more equal future during this COVID 19 pandemic.
The program will begin at 8 am and will end with a mass at 1:05 pm.
